November Monthly Muse | STUDIO CANDOR

We love keeping up to date with local brands, artists and makers. It keeps us inspired and we aim to share more of our muses with hopes that you will feel the same.
November’s Monthly Muse is Studio Candor.
The power of the internet recently connected us to the young and upcoming local brand. We see so many amazing brands bursting out the seams of this city which is a beautiful testament to the textile history of Cape Town. However, as a brand with our minds constantly on conscious creating and consumerism we know that creating clothing can come at an unsustainable cost.
Cue Candor Studio finding the middle ground!
Studio Candor clothes have the intention of being ‘the love child of the streetwear and comfort modern’ with a sustainable twist. After a brief conversation with Studio Candor team it became very apparent the huge emphasis that this brand has put on making sustainable choices from the very beginning. Having only recently launched in March just before lockdown, the young brand has made some bold steps online.
The brand first caught our eye with their simple silhouettes which feel reminiscent of a 90’s childhood. The models seem carefree and comfortable as themselves effortlessly switching between styles with gender neutral design being a conscious effort. Another surprising factor is the accessible price point, with a shorts and tee set starting at R300. It is uncommon that a local brands prices can be compared to that of a fast fashion brand which is understandable but often difficult to explain to a first time sustainable consumer.
It’s really refreshing to see such a young brand take such a sustainable standpoint from the get go. They have considered each step of the way, from choice of deadstock fabrics, ethical manufacturing, accessible price points, conscious packaging and delivering with our friends at Mielie Mailer who aim towards zero carbon delivery.
The more we learn about this brand the more impressed we become. It’s great to see brands taking such big strides toward sustainability and it also gives us a chance to reflect on how we can improve as a business. We look forward to seeing more from Studio Candor!
